Hi Sapna,
The pitch book is a marketing device that consists of a careful arrangement and analysis of the investment considerations of a potential or current professional client, and/or a reference for comparison for an employee in an investment or commercial bank. Its purpose is to provide sufficient information to secure a deal for the fund with the potential client.
Business in the investment industry is conducted with an initial pitch or sales introduction. The pitch book is, traditionally considered being the more formal form of sales, to the institutional market.

Pitch book is specific to the field of Investment Banking (IB). IB is considered as the most lucrative field for finance professionals but entry in the same is not easy.

The profile looks attractive. Entry to this field starts from the clerical work then based on experience and skill set a person is promoted to the core field. So, before joining it would be better to discuss the work profile in depth with the prospective employer and then take a decision.

Hi Sapna,
A Pitch Book is sales book created by an investment bank/firm that details the main attributes of the firm. The pitchbook is used by the firm's sales force to aid it with selling products and issues, and generating new clients Pitch Book Also known as high quality professional power point presentation for investment banking. But this is too broad for our purposes, so I’m going to split “pitch books” into the 3 main types of presentations you create
1 Market Overviews / Bank Introductions: Introducing your bank and giving updates to potential clients
2 Deal Pitches – Sell-side M&A, buy-side M&A, IPOs, debt issuances, and so on.
3 Management Presentations – Pitching a client to investors once you’ve actually won the client.
There are other types and sub-types, but 99% of your work in PowerPoint falls into one of these 3 categoriesPitch Book Also known as high quality professional power point presentation for investment banking. Hi Sapna and all,
Things I know about Pitch Book i am sharing below
The pitch book is not to be confused with a public information book ("PIB"), which is an internal resource for the investment bankers to glean transactional and historic information of the intended industry a particular target firm may be in or may be heading towards. The PIB is an easy to access research source, which is usually maintained in the library of an investment bank.
The pitch book may employ a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats). "Comps", or Comparable Company Analysis may also be presented. In a comp, an investment bank will present industry specific details, trends, macro- and microeconomic and company specific analysis, which will not only support the investment bank's vision but also support reasoning for a particular future valuation discussion for the potential client.
There are many contributors to an investment bank's pitch book. It starts with the analyst to the associate to the vice-president and senior vice-president (relationship managers) to the lead of the team, the managing director. As an example, a table of contents or outline will open the pitch book for discussion. Name, title, and department present a management descripttion of the deal team and other contributors within the firm’s internal wealth of resources. An "overview", "financing requirements (such as satisfying capital expenditures "CAPEX" and capital budgeting)", and finally as mentioned a descripttion of the company's universe, the "comparable company analysis" are all essential elements to an investment banking pitch book.
I hope this is useful
