The reason is whatever is your income amt from that amt itself TDS is calculated & deducted.
For Eg- you have received income of Rs. 100 & applicable TDS rate for you is 10% then TDS would be calculated as 100X10%=Rs.10. But your total income was Rs.100
TDS is just said as your tax is deducted from your income & is deposited on your behalf by the person who is giving you income.
