Dear Subhendu

  • Basic deduction: Mediclaim premium paid for Self, Spouse or dependant children. Maximum deduction Rs 15,000. In case any of the persons mentioned above is a senior citizen (i.e. 65 years or more as of end of the year up to F.Y. 2010-11 and 60 years from F.Y. 2011-12) and Mediclaim Insurance premium is paid for such senior citizen, deduction amount is enhanced to Rs. 20,000.

  • Additional deduction: Mediclaim premium paid for parents. Maximum deduction Rs 15,000. In case any of the parents covered by the Mediclaim policy is a senior citizen, deduction amount is enhanced to Rs. 20,000.

yes you can claim Rs. 21000 as deduction in which your share of premium must be less than 15000,

as per section 80D :- for self, spouse and children maximum Rs.15000

and for Parents Rs.15000 if they are senior citizens (above 65 years) than the limit will be Rs.20000.

tin short you can claim Total Rs.30000 ( if parents are not senior citizen)

and 35000 (if they are senior citizen)

Agree with the above all , but make sure Out of those 21000 Rs. if u have paid more than 15000 for your self  then u would get maximum of 15000 Rs. only .......

agree with all.......
