30 March 2011If a single mediclaim policy is taken to cover the self, familiy members and parents( not senior sitizen) and amount paid is Rs. 40000/- what is the deduction available 80D.
is there any requirment to take seperate policy to claim additional amount for insurance of parents.?
Pls clarify.

Breakup of premium is required i.e premium paid of (You+Wife) and of parents.

I think we should know the amount of premium paid for parents and rest of the family members separately.
its complicated and CBDT should issue a clarification if there's is no provision regarding this!!!

Ded. U/s 80D in respect of Medical/Health Insurance Premia
Breakup of premium is required because there is a separate deduction for
1)self/wife/children
2) parents
