Hello friends
I have heared that in earlier years the accountants used to maintain 2 registers.
One for credit and another for debit.
That y the word debit register and credit register came into existence and we connote it as Dr and Cr.
I may be wrong bcoz i have heared it from somewhere, i personally was thinking it to be as debit recording and credit recording.
Regards

Hey it doent indicates the debit register or credit register. Both debit and credit are derived from French language where debit means "Debiteur" and credit means "crediteur". So to write in simple terms we use Dr and Cr. Revert for further clarifications

The abbreviation dr. comes from the latin form of the word debit, which is debere.
