Date of commencement of business

We  have handloom sarees retail shop, proprietorship  since 1985 (do not know exact date) . And no liability to register under vat or any other laws. We are filing IT returns regularly. What date we should show in gst application as date of commencement. Registration under Voluntary basis selected.
