I read that indian govt allows to bring one laptop duty free, if stay is more than 3 days.
my friend is coming back from US and he is bringing his one laptop for him and one for me. So one is free for him and for the second one which is for me , he'll need to pay duty. I wanted to know how much will be duty on the item, I mean what is rate ?

Dear Sudhir,Yes ur information is correct one laptop is free from customs duty.
As far as IInd laptop is concerned it is covered under General free allowance(GFA)...
Which means apart from used articles and a laptop there are other articles specified under GFA which can be brought without payment of duty upto specified limit.(currently limit is 25000/-)
So ur laptop is duty free upto 25000/- over and above 25000/- is liable to customs duty.
