i want to know that i am importing iphone 4s 16gb mobile phone of 26741 from USA through united states postal service (USPS) .Will it be duty free if not how much will be the duty.i will be waiting for your reply

AS PER CUSTOM DUTY ACT. 1962 IF U ARE IMPORTING ANY MOBILE PHONE FROM U.S.A THEN DEFINITELY IMPORT DUTY WOULD BE LEVIED.......ON THIS LUGGAGE DUTY WILL ALSO BE LEVIED.AT THE RATE OF 35%
AND OTHER CUSTOM DUTY WILL BE LEVIED AT THE RATE OF 10% + ADDITIONAL DUTY OF CUSTOM U/S 3(1) & 3(5) WILL ALSO BE APPLICABLE...........
BUT U WILL ALSO GET RS. 25000 GENERAL EXEMPTION FOR THE SAME WHEN DUTY LEVIED ON BAGGAGE........

AFAIK, there is no import duty on personal imports upto Rs. 25k. After that the normal rates of custom duty are applicable.
