Promotion of education is one clause under CSR.However if done for children of employees or so it doesnt come within the ambit of CSR.
In that case it is an eligible CSR expenditure.But the same has to be dis allowed for IT purpose.
As per section 37(1) of IT Act is disallowed.The reason behind this section is as mentioned by you since it is not for business purpose.
