My dear friend,
All your doubts are correct.
As you know that there are two types of doctors. General Physician and Specialist. Whenever a person is not well, he or she moves to general physician and when he is not properly diagnosed or as per report, some specific problem exist, then s/he moves to specialist. Hence, almost 95% people contact general physician and later on specialist.
Similar is the case with CA and CS.
CAs are like general physician. Whenever a person has something financial in mind, he immediately contacts CA. They can do all the work of Company Secretaries except one thing which is compliance certificate which they (CA) bought from CS at a very nominal value which is sometimes even Rs.500. For legal work like mergers, amalgamation or others, Companies generally contact lawyers.
Hence, CS do LAW also because only CS itself does not have much value. When they do law, they become legal officers in the Company. They do law (the highest most profession in the country) thats why they are valued.
Evenif the picture explained by me may hurt lotsof students doing CS but it is the experience of most of CS who have not done any other degree. They are not being able to get jobs and even practise also. In practise, when a CA contacts a company for audit, they usually include annual filing work in the package including filing of annual return form 20B, 23AC AND 23ACA, Compliance Certificate etc
Now, you can himself decide who is important and valued.
You may say that my views are negative about CS but it is very hard realty that a student who spends five years in getting a degree, but when he comes in market he repents that why he has not done anyother course like CA or LLB.
