Cs admission help

I am a BSc graduate in mathematics. I have done my mba in finance and awaiting the results. Right now I am working in the finance dept of a company as an MIS executive. I wish to appear for CS but am really confused regarding the admission process. I know that being a graduate I am exempt from the foundation course. So now I have to enroll for the executive program. In order to do this do I have to register online or do I need to purchase the prospectus first and then register? Also I know that there is a compulsory computer training which every student has to undergo but they are also exempt if they can show proof of computer education from any institute and also if they clear the exam set by Aptech. Now I have a programmer's certificate from ZED CA institute. Will this suffice? Also do I have to pass the computer course before registering online or do I have to register first? Can someone please guide me step by step as to how to enroll for the CS course as I am really confused? Also when trying to register online for the executive program I noticed that we have to upload the scanned copies of DOB cert, 10+2 cert, photo, signature, etc.... Is this necessary?

Hii Jrm, first of all all d best 4 ur upcoming result, it seem good that u r now interested in CS after completing modulus courses.........well ur ans. of the questions goes like this :-

As u already know that u can get xmption so u hv to enroll directly in an executive programme........u can register by both way, but it is more preferable 4 u if u go n purchase d prospectus n den fill and den submit with prescribed documents....

yes, u can xmption only if they agreed dat all ur sylbus is covered under ur previous computer course, so its good that u should show them ur certificate...........if u get xmption then u hv to give online xam 4rm Aptech....

all d programme u hv to undergo after registering in d programme....

I hope ur all query get solved, if further u get any program regarding this entire programme, u can asked over here....

Regards..

Hi Jrm,

Let me first congratulate for selecting CS profession. Getting registered for CS is a simple process. Since you have an MBA certificate with you, just forget about your non commerce graduation. Let me ATTEMPT to clarify your doubts one by one:

1. Registering CS online is convenient but it has been observed that the site shows some error message just before completing the online registration process. And also, if the registration is online, you may have to wait for a further period to get your student identity card as it is not available online.

You may also register by purchasing a prospectus. The process is very simple. Just fill the application form and send it/submit it to nearby chapter with the following enclosures:

  1. Matriculation certificate or any other proof for DOB
  2. Graduation certificate
  3. MBA Certificate
  4. MBA Detailed mark list for claiming exemptions)
  5. Demand Draft of Rs. 7100 (Rs.100 for exemption and add Rs. 300 if you wish to subscribe chartered secretary magazine)
  6. Attested student ICSI- identity card with self attested photograph

2. Regarding computer training, you may claim exemption from the 70 hrs computer training with Aptech/Sify if you have got relevant qualifications. Then also, you may have to undergo the online computer examination from the nearby centers and clear the same before appearing for the Executive exams. Grant of exemption will normally be the sole discretion of the computer training centre.

3. If you register in any CS chapters (spot admission) you may get the study materials directly. Else you may have to wait for one month or more for the receipt of books. You need not directly be present at the chapter for registration. You affix necessary signatures and send your representative.

4. You may claim exemption from Accounts and Costing (paper 2 of module 1) since you have an MBA.  For this, you have to submit detailed mark list of MBA-Finance.(provided u have 50% or more for finance papers)

5. After registering, you may decide whether to undergo oral coaching or postal tution. You being employed, its better to opt postal tution wherein you have to submit response sheets to any one of the compulsory questions paper in the respective study materials. You have to send them to ICSI so as to get a coaching completion certificate which is compulsory.

You have to undergo programmes like SIP, EDP, MSOP, ADP, ROC Training etc in various stages of ICSI, the details of which are as follows:

  1. Students Induction Programme  (SIP) before executive exams. You may claim exemption for that.
  2. Executive Development Programme ( EDP) after CS executive pass
  3. 24 Hours ADP Credit hours
  4. Management Skills Orientation Programme ( MSOP) after passing Professional programme
  5. 15 days training with Registrar of Companies/Stock Exchange

Hope that your doubts are clarified.

Dear Ritesh and Premjit, thanks for the encouraging response and really appreciate your selfless support. Your answers have helped clear a lot of doubts. But I still have some concerns regarding taking up admission. The problem is that my mba is still not complete. I am pursuing mba through maharashtra state board which awards the mms degree but which is equivalent to an mba. As per the mms course I still have to clear one more paper in april and the final results will be out in august. At the moment we can also work side by side. So I am currently working in an organisation as an MIS executive. I took up this job so that I get a few months experience before I get my degree. Now since I have newly joined this organisation getting leaves for CS training programs like SIP will be difficult. I have 2 years work experience in bpos. Will this experience help me get an exemption from SIP? Also do you recommend that I register for the CS exec program due in December 2012 now, since I am currently working and still have to clear one more paper from my mms course? Would this be very hectic? Or should I wait and give my exams next year but at the cost of losing a year? If I decide on giving the exams next year can I start preparing for it now or do I have to have the updated material for CS in order to study? Can you also tell me where can I purchase the prospectus? I reside in Mumbai. Thanks
