one of our client was travel to foreign & in the bill of travel agent, service tax is charged @ 1.20% on basic fare of flight.... our client co is a manufrer... whether credit of such service tax can be availed??? please reply ..

u 1st see that the travel agent whether have the ST registration, if Yes u can take credit, if not the agent should not charge the service tax from u , meanwhile u can not get credit.

This is a case of service tax not the case of VAT...
So u cant avail credit.......

Dear Friend
Service Tax Credit is taken "on those bills only which services are directly or indirectly related to the manufacturing process , n if the travelling is related to manufacturing process" of the nature of industry is functioning , but if it is a personal travelling expenditure u cant take the credit .
Plesae note ,
Advertisement , Telecommunication Services , Engineering services , input services ( Freight ) , Output Services ( Freight ), product survey are the examples of Service Tax Credit
