Ans 1)1st vowel may occupy = 4p1 = 4 ways 2nd vowel may occupy = 3p1 = 3 ways 3rd vowel may occupy = 2p1 = 2 ways [ 1 is in suffix ] Total ways of vowels occupying = 4*3*2 = 24 Remaining places may be occupied by consonants = 5! = 120 Therefore, Total no. of ways for reqd. arrangement = 24 * 120 = 2880
Ans 3)3,4,5,6,7 = 5 digits. Total no. formed without any condition = 5p4 = 5!/(5-4)! = 120 If the no. consists of 4 digits, then all numbers are greater than 5000 except when 3 & 4 appear at the extreme left. The no. of such numbers -- if start with 3 = 4p3 = 4!/(4-3)! = 24, if start with 4 = 4p3 = 24 Total ways = 24 + 24 = 48 Therefore, Reqd. no. of ways = 120 - 48 = 72

10 ways for calcutta to delhi n again 10 from delhi to calcutta

answer in icai material is give 90ways for this question :(

can u help me to understand how is it possible ?

nikhil if answer to this question is 90 that means they are considering that repetition is not allowed
