Copies of Statutoty Registers

Hello

If a person is a member (shareholder) of the company but in previous two years he was not the member & then also he is asking for copies of statutory registers & annul reports of last 3 years, my question is if i can reject his application on the ground that he was not the member in previous two years & give him only on year copies.

Thanks

It is not mentioned in the law that the member can only ask for the balance sheet for the period in which he was member.

If its a pub. ltd. co, even a stranger can ask for the balance sheets and view that at the registered office of the  co. and ask for a copy of that and even take out notings from the b/sheet of the co. on payment of fees.

See sec, 163 (2). 163(3), 163(4) and 163(5)

After all, I don't think your ground for denial of presentation B/Sheets is valid..

Expert views recommeneded.

I don't think  you can reject on the ground that he was not a  member for 2 previous year, as per the provision he is having right to inspect the register and Act does not limit for specific year.
