09 February 2018An employer did not deduct TDS in the FY 2016-17 . Now the employee wants form 16.
If he gives form 16 with balance to pay - what will be the consequences.
(the employee is ready to pay taxes now and file his return )
BUT can employeR issue form 16. ?

Form 16 is downloaded trom TRACES, so let employer pay TDS with interest and file return, after that he can download form 16.

Form 16/ 16A is the certificate of deduction of tax at source and issued on deduction of tax by the employer on behalf of the employees. These certificates provide details of TDS / TCS for various transactions between deductor and deductee. It is mandatory to issue these certificates to Tax Payers.
