No.... Not at all....!!  commissioners are recruited directly from civil services....!!! their is no way C.A. can be selected merely on the basis of their degree...!!!

Commissioners have more kinds of work to do than just to pass orders...!!!!  Also A professional course can't be held as a sole degree as equivalent to Civil service exams where the pass percentage and level of exam is a lot more difficult.!!!

i agree with Mohd. Atir as he has mentioned in the 2nd para. Frankly speaking lots of CA have no presentation skills as well as administrative skills.

A CA usually goes to represent an assessee so why not a CA be there from the Department's side also.
Also the Central Board of Exicse, Customs and Service Tax should hire CAs

Even the IRS officers are trained for each and everything, they aren't the perfect persons, comparitively a CA can have quick learning curve and he can do the job very well and after the IRS probationers join the training academy they learn everything, right from the scratch. And the Civils exam syllabus has nothing to do for IRS Officer, for fiscal policy framework, knowledge of macro changes in Environment is required but not as much as an IAS or IPS officer requires.Because Fiscal policies has nothing to do with the lot of current affair stuff that every Civil service aspirant mugs up.Even if you consider the RBI governor appointment, they are not appointed on the basis of the Current Affairs knowledge that a Civil service aspirant requires.
