The government is contemplating at bringing organisations with 10 workers under the Provident Fund scheme. "A decision in this regard will be taken at the appropriate time", Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Oscar Fernandes said here today. At present, organisations should have a minimum of 20 workers to avail the scheme. Inaugurating the sub-regional office of the Provident Fund here, he said India has not been affected by the global recession as the fundamentals of the economy are strong.
