Centre allocates mega food park projects to Adani Ports, 16 others
NEW DELHI: Adani Ports and 16 others have been awarded mega food parks by the Food Processing Ministry.
These projects are expected to attract an investment of over Rs. 6,000 crore and have the potential to provide employment to around 80,000 people. These projects are expected to benefit over 50,000 farmers.
Announcing the names of successful bidders, the Food Processing Minister, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, said that for the first time 7 State bodies have been awarded projects.
"Participation of State Governments will ease the process of obtaining clearances," she said, while adding that this will expedite the setting up of food parks. These parks need to be set up within 30 months.
She also mentioned that these parks will play a catalyst role in bringing down inflation. With the latest approval, the total number of mega food parks sanctioned will be 42. Out of these, four are already operational, while the Government plans to make three more operational by the end of this year.
