28 May 2011After doing research online regarding central excise tariff on air conditioners, I have gotten a lot of mixed results regarding Chapter 84, heading 8415.
If I were to today import split unit ACs below and above 2 Tonnes how much excise duty would I need to pay?

ABOVE SAID ITEM OCCURS IN RITC HS CODE NO."84158110" EXCISE DUTY IS 16%.
DESCRIPTION IS SPLIT AIR CONDITIONS TWO TONNE AND ABOVE.

Tariff heading will be falling under chapter No. 8415 after that depaind upon used of Air Conditioner. Central Excise duty will be basic duty 10% edu cess 2% and HS cess 1%.

What about below 2Tonnes, is that exemted from excise duty?
and apart from central excise duty, there are none other changes such as customs or anything else ?

If you import air conditioners then Basic custom duty + CVD (Aditional Custom Duty equivalent to Excise duty) + SAD (Special Adtional Duty).
