i just want to know what should be the audit procedure for an audit of central excise

hi there.for excise audit purpose..u can read EA 2000 in excise manual.its available on website also...the main thing is to prepare Assessee profile. .. mainly they will give a letter containing their requirement... u have to prepare all things and call them for audit..then nothing.... just have some personal formalities and ..get audit certificate...anything u need . contact me at solanki.vr @ gmail.com
If you are a newly registered service provider or manufacturer, excise audit may be new to you .. Generally, excise audit is undertaken by the govt. as per the norms of excise duty amount that you paid during previous year .. Forms are sent to you for filling in and return.. If sufficient checks and balances are found in your accounting system that may not alert for any revenue leak for excise, then frequency of audit will be reduced.. Only the private records maintained by you or statutory records as per the business / corporate laws are taken for audit.
In addition to routine audit by Govt dept, govt can be ordered Excise audit u/s 14A and14AA by Cost Accountants.
