Is there any notification prohibiting retention of excise duty paid goods by the seller within his premises at the request of buyer?

what is the purpose of your audit. in any case you check the following
1. credit for cap. goods are taken as per cenvat rule. check chapter heading of each purchase invoice.
2. take invoice of purchase of input
3. take RG 23 A and RG 23C
4. check duty of sale is correctlr calculated and cr. to excise duty payable account.
do reco of excise opayable by multipying the sale 8 rate of ED
5. check month end adjustment of cenvat credit.
6. check cenvat on service tax taken properly or not.
7.service tax on GTA paid properly or not

in SRP you can not Keep duty paid goods in the factory. there is no specific rule.
Even if you want to Keep the goods after paying duty you have to inform the Supt of range . this material should be kept separately.
there are rules under which duty paid goods ne kept but these are applicable only when goods are returned for remaking, etc.
