Hi..i would like to know how to give answers for case laws in the exams as case laws given are decided ones.....how are we supposed to remember the decisions????????

If you are a PCC student then case laws are not much relevant for you as there are only a few relevant for income tax in PCC.
If you are a Final CA student then case laws are very much relevant to you. In the exams a type of adjustment will be given and the solution of the same will lie in some of the case laws and there you have to quote the same and state that it was held in this case law that [the subject matter of the case law].
You need to remember only the case law name and not the citation i. e. if a case is Goa Carbon Ltd. v. CIT [1994] 73 Taxman 68 (Bom.). then you need to remeber only Goa Carbon Ltd. v/s CIT and what was held in the case.

Also the institute comes out with a publication on select recent case laws on Direct & Indirect Case laws which are relevant for the examination and many a times the case in the exam paper are based on the case laws mentioned in the book itself.
