Hi Laksh*t, I dont have much idea about IB but from what I have read while surfing, MBA from a top B-School should be your next line of action-in case u want to get into a front office role in a major IB firm. And by top B-School, I mean IIM A,B or C..may be even other reputed institutes like xlri or fms shall be ok I guess..As I said, I hv no expertise in this field..Just thought of replying since nobody else is doing so. Hopefully somebody with hands on experience in IB will post a reply soon.
P.S. Pls dont take it for granted that an mba from a top IIM will land u a front office job in IB. From what I read from the experiences of many iim alumni, ur past academic credentials as well as ur grades in mba(upto the point u are recruited) come into play a lot in u getting placed in an IB. I dont know how much value prior experience in IB as well as courses like cfa add to ur resume..I think it should add value..Also pls do consult somebody who is actually into IB field b4 choosing this as ur career. Get info on what all u will be doing as an investment banker in order to know whether u actually like this job & arent merely attracted to IB by fat paychecks & the so-called glamour. If u dont know anybody from this field, at least do some research on internet(hope u hv done dat already). Make ur career choice wisely.
