MBA is the conventional route into investment banking, specifically in the U.S., but it lacks technical training often leaves new recruits lagging others in the company and MBAs are gravitating away from finance anyway.
On the other hand, the CFA gives a great technical base, but does not essentially give you the management nous to navigate the financial services industry into the senior ranks.
This is how to decide.
