Cancellation of service tax registration

Sir

We are the MNC completed 8 years of operations and about to close the operations by end of May 2013. The ST-3 returns filed upto 2nd quarter and 3rd & 4th quarter are pending due to non availability of revised formats at concerned website.

In this scenerio, how can I cancel my service tax registration ?. Incase if I cancel the license through the website, does there any further complications does comany attracts, since ST-3 were not filed for 3rd & 4th quarter?. Or is there any way to do so ?

You should wait for the filing of return for the period of 3rd and 4th quarter then then cancelled the registration. After cancelation of the registration you can not file the return and department can raise the penalty for the pending period.

Thank you very much to your reply sir. But here the situation is such that the operations are going to windup. Therefore, is there any way to conclude its statutory obligations in this regard ?
