like
invoice no. 1,2,3, then 1A, 3A, 16A??

Yes, this should be allowed as per Rule 54(b)
"(b) a consecutive serial number not exceeding sixteen characters, in one or
multiple series, containing alphabets or numerals or special characters-
hyphen or dash and slash symbolised as “-” and “/” respectively, and any
combination thereof, unique for a financial year;"

I think Rule 54(b) of the CGST rule 2017 is applicable to ( Tax Invoice in special case ) for Input service Distributor please confirm
