well u can....... but i can't guarantee that u can pass............ Engineering and ca are two diff roads... engineering needs paying attention at classroom. ca needs paying attention at home(reading). choose one boat. Engineering is also the best if u r at top..... ca will be at its best even if u pass

well ........... how to start up means........
ca has no specified colleges. There is only a board formed by an act of Parliament.
The board takes care of registrarions, conducting exams and all.
There are 3 stages in CA.
1. CPT- Common Proficiency Test. 4 papers.
2.IPCC-Integrated professional Competence Course. 7 papers groupI .4 papers groupII. 3 papers.
3.Final - 8 papers grup1. 4 and the rest second group.
To Start up u hav to get registered with ICAI board, for CPT. u will get exam eligibilty in 6 months.
exams will be conducted two times an year may and november.
If u pass u hav to get registered with IPCC and u get exam eligibility in 9 months.
Wen u pass IPCC group 1 or both then u will be eligible to do article ship(training).
u hav to do articles compulsorly to get final eligibility .... articles lasts for 3 years. In the meanwhile at end of ur second year training u will get eligibility to final exam.
'I dont know perfect marks for pass in cpt. But for IPCC u hav to get 40% in each subject and 50% aggregate on a group.
even if u fail a single paper or no aggregate, u hav to write all papers again unless u get an exemption in a subject.
exemption is awarded if u get 60 marks in a subect.to get 60 is like distinction.
Now pass % in IPCC is 19% before its 14 and 6 %.
wen ever u fail u hav to wait for further 6 months and clear that exam. U will b promoted to next level only wen u clear a stage...;........ CPT is easy. IPCC & Final tests u lot.

@ Nagarjuna: Thanks you very much.. this is exactly what I was looking for..one small question..If somehow I manage to clear CPT and IPCC, then, should I do aricleship as a full time ,like 10 hours everyday for 3 years (or) is it a part time job like 2 hours a day?? Dont take this otherwise but Since we are talking about India is it possible to get a dummy certificate for articleship?? I have heard from one of my friends about this..kindly clarify the above issues.
Thank you

Articles is not like a part time job. U might hav to spend min of 7 hours a day in office.
mmmmm........
U can get that said DUMMY thing outside....... with a cost of some 50k.
Y articles is necessary means, after becomin a CA the expectations on u will be at peak.
Noone will giv u training or something. U will b posted in positions such as Finance manager , Investment Banker, Tax depot etc. wen u see the practical things they will b completely different from wat u learnt. U cant go there and ask whats this form and that. It wud b gud if u learn them as a student. U can study different type of business and managers u meet.
Moreover now a days Final exam papers are framed with full Practical cases.. Articles will help u lot.
If not 3 Years, atleast an year u go thru articles. Choosing good CA for articles is also an Imp thing.....
well disadvantages of articels are ,
U find very less time for preparation. we might feel our work routine and boring... we will be paid less
But still they become minute wen u compare advantages...
Good luck
