Some NGOs are turning to vocational skill training, making handmade stuff like pickles, poppadum, candles, handicrafts, etc. Although these are not high profit generating activities, but they allow NGOs to function - pay their employees, run their overhead costs and empower their beneficiaries to depend on their own skills. These kinds of NGOs are known as 'Social Enterprise' - where the intention is to do social good through an economic activity. Similarly providing social service and employment can be achieved by way of security agency.

If it satisfies its motto as per laid down memorandum, it is possible. Main guiding principle is, it should not be for earning profits, but for service to the society/section/country.
