Dear All,

I am a MBA finance with experience of 5 yr+ as a credit analyst in a Bank. I want to start my own consultancy in few years and i feel C. A. will help me in doing that. Can i do a C. A. course along with my existing job. What about the articleship. Is it compulsory. In case i have to leave job for Articleship what best i can get so that i don't have to sacrifice most of my current compensation. Gradualy i plan to work as a full time consultant. Please help.

u can do ca course after leaving ur consultancy job when u will pass ipcc group -1 exam for articleship.articleship is compulsary for own benefits.

Yes, you can pursue CA Course. Even the study materials for all ca levels are there in Students Menu Bos Option. As of now, you have to appear for CPT entrance test exam to do CA.  But there is a proposal before government for exempting graduates from appearing CPT, for which the approval is pending. Hope it comes in a month or two.

If you are non-commerce graduate, then it is advisable to go through CPT level. You can still do job along with study. But after passing IPCC 1st group (as per existing rules) you have to join 3-years practical training under a practising CA/Firm. At that time, you may be required to resign from your job. Further details can be read from below link.

If your MBA is from good B school, you are doing well in your current , no need to CA, Better ,you will get CWA   without much  hindrance .

Getting CWA is easir than CA in so much aspects.(Freinldy for working class, no artile required , even your current exprience will be counted)

But i f you want to go independent practice , then CA is best option.

While I did not do CA, I would suggest considering CFA as a good alternative too. That course helps you launch yourself into capital marketing and possibly IB (!). there are a few other options too if you really want to pursue investmenet management as a career option
