hi, ICWA is not exactly similar to CA. After becoming icwa you will be expertised in cost accouting where as after becoming ca you will be expertised in taxation, Financial accouting, Auditing etc.

No, one should not go for courses during articleship as u have a contract of 3.5yrs so u can only join other courses which do not need training with the course or when ur CA articleship ends, u can register for other courses with prior permission from the institute in Form No 112.

ICWA does not recognise 3.5 yrs articleship of CA. hence it would now be difficult to pursue both as both requires training in different fields

My Dear Friend,
As you know the today scenerio is changing with very fast speed.
ICWA & CA is the best combination today. ICWAI provides a impressive platform to shape Career in DIRECT TAX . ACCOUNTS especially in INDIRECT TAX except costing and others.
You may join CWA beause Industrial training is allowed i.e only for ONE YEAR EARLIER TO FINAL EXAMANIATION
In other word, You may qualify THREE group of ICWA without practical training.
and after completing 3 groups of ICWA , if you work in INDUSTRY for one year only . You may take exam for LAST GROUP OF ICWA.
Extra 2 years practical training is required only for being member of the INSTITUTE.You may do it after completion of final examination of the institute. This is required only for being member of the institute.

Hi. I am Ahil an ICWA Final student. My friend sanket, above statement is right. If u want to be a member than nd than u want to do the 3.5yrs practicle training. Otherwise u can give all the groups & u will become a grad.CWA/CMA. And the training includes the t4 areas like ,
(i) Central/State Government / Semi-Government / Public Utilities (ii) Banks and other Financial Institutions (iii) Insurance Company (iv) Public Sector Unit (v) Public Limited Company (vi) Private Limited Company (vii) Information Technology Sector (viii) KPO / BPO (ix) Stock Exchange (x) Universities, Management Institutes and any other educational institute (xi) Limited Liability Partnership Firm (xii) Management Consultancy Firms (xiii) NGO (xiv)Co-operative societies engaged in Banking or Manufacturing and (xiii) Any other institution as approved by the Council from time to time
So if u will start job in any of the above field after ur CA & ICWA Inter registration than this job will bw alligible as a training...:)

Joining ICWA or CA is almost the same, both are accounting courses and if you really want to do CS then go for ICWA and after finishing final go for CS, you will get 5 papers in CS Course as exemption a facility which CA course never has with any professional institute in India.
Moreover, if you are going for employment, in the field of Finance and Accounting, both are equally sought after and with the government mulling for mandatory cost audit for all manufacturing companies ICWA is as fair a game as CA.
