CA vs MBA

Dear ICAI Members,

Many of us are from the profession where we are given an exhaustive list of topics to work upon & come back with our evaluations. During the process, we tend to lose / ignore the communication skills which is a pre-requisite for getting a job or even maintaining it. Though a CA is presumed to be an expert in the fields of taxation, accounts, audit, he is not assumed to be carrying the knowledge of finance as good as a MBA does. Thanks to the curriculum a good B School provides, a MBA always scores over CA in this regard (communication).

Though the institute has made the 3 months residential course mandatory, to atleast give a jinx of skills a MBA has, still much more is to be done in this regard. I understand that a merger of these fields shall provide the best of the breed. ICAI may think of tie-ups with B Schools for specific courses (short term durations of 3 months'or 6 months) to do away with the limitation a CA faces during the course of his professional journey.

A combo of CA+MBA is a dream combo in itself, & some steps may be taken by the ICAI & B Schools together can result in greatest talents born ever.
