01 June 2015The Corporate World, at minimum, wants the following skills :
1. Knowledge of the Financial modules of ERP softwares like SAP, SAGE. You can have the theoritical and basic implementation knowledge through Youtube.
2. Knowledge of International Taxation, Transfer Pricing.
3. Knowledge of business environment, economy, Taxation approach, Political environment of atleast G8 countries and India.
4. Current affairs affecting Indian economy and business environment.
5. Knowledge of IFRS, Ind-AS.
6. Financial Modelling through excel.
7. Excellent English vocabulary, Communication skills.
8. Knowledge of Macro Economics.
9. And obviously, the practical application of CA curriculum.
And the shortlisting of the candidates for the interview is SOLELY based on the number of attempts.
So, even if you have the above said skill set, but you are a repeater, then you will not get any chance to show your worth because your resume will directly go inside the shredder/dustbin if you have multiple attempts and you will not be considered even for an interview.

Multiple attempts : Multiple attempts in CA FINAL.
Rank Holder and 1st attempt : Best
2nd attempt : Good. 2nd attempt is the general cut off point.
3rd attempt : Just OK. Only limited companies give consideration.
4th attempt : You will have tuff time to get a job. You will not be in a position to negotiate the package. Any amount will be mercy for you.
5th attempt : Please start your Practice.
6th attempt : Look for a reference. Only reference can get you a job now.
7th attempt : Forget it ! Your career is doomed. ( Sadly,I will fall in this category if I clear my last group this time )
8th attempt and above : I have no idea.
BUT A STRONG REFERENCE CAN BYEPASS ANY CUTOFF/ CRITERIA.

Hammad I agree with you always but not with your today's attempt thing.
It is never the degree, its the knowledge and passion...I know this fact as real life experience..
I know attempts might hurt you with job prospects in corporate world...but why would anyone want to use his skills to benefit others even when he gets only a fraction of it.
Even in small cities people work for more than 40000/- salary..not even qualified CA.
Just rememeber.
"Every second of our life is an opportunity..if you are not catching it you are postponing the time frame to earthly success, but not abandoning it altogether. Once you know how to ride the horse you can only go further and faster..but one rule is never to look back, or else you will fall once again and you will have to learn to ride the horse once again."
If people do not give you jobs, good riddance, build it on your own..I see many examples and I keep seeking inspiration from them.
As past president said, that the new scheme will fill the gaps in supply demand of independent practitioners..I say build your own path..but jobs are available, if you have the attitude and wish to make things happen.
