I use T.N.Manoharan. Have evaluated below the book on the basis of each of ur requirements(sorry, cant provide similar analysis on the other two buks as I havent read them).
1.Very Brief Chapter-No, Manoharan is not very brief but it is not very lengthy also.
2.Q & A- No, Manoharan isnt in Q & A format.
3.Ready reference at the time of exam-At the end of this book, there is a particular section called Summary of Key Points for Revision. Here all the important matters are briefly given chapter-wise, which is really useful for revision(especially in the days b4 the exams).
4.Past questions chapter wise- At the end of every chapter, previous year questions related to that particular chapter are given.
5.Simple language for clearing the concept-The language is very simple & clear in Manoharan. It is an ideal book for clearing concepts. It contains adequate number of illustrations which helps in understanding the various provisions.
To conclude, Manoharan meets all your requirements except the first two. But let me tell you, no reference book is going to be very brief. Even if u find one which is brief, it will not help u to clear the exam. U need to have a reasonable understanding of the various tax provisions & for that u will have to refer some standard reference book which explains everything at sufficient length. And Manoharan' s buk does this really well. It describes provisions at sufficient length, nothing less nothing more. U still have got almost 4 months & it is is enough to prepare from Manoharan.
