Hi Friends,

Pls advice for DT which book should I follow. I have time constraint. I have already got Vinod Gupta Sir's Module. They are too vast. Good for conceptual clarity. I have recently bought Vinod Singhania but I am findlng it too boring as font size is too small and presentation is not good for exam. Otherwise a good book once exams are clear for CA practice. But too lengthy when u have limited time.

I want to study in fast track as time is a constraint for me..

I need a book in Q & A form i.e guide kind. Having past years questions topic wise and also hve study questions and exercises.

Kindly suggest which is suitable as i have not seen any of these:

T N Manoharan or Yogendra Bangar or G. Sekhar.

Beside on advice of my friends I have bought Dinesh Madan. Will it be sufficient for ISCA. Or sthg else available. Do I need to buy anything else.

Pls suggest

Monika

Hi Monika

As I read your problem regarding Selection of Book of Direct Taxation my Adice to you is dont study whole syllabus from one book .

Make an ABC analysis for all chapters and most important and Critical topic u should cover from VG Sir book and For Balance topic you can study SATISH MANGAL Sir book which is concise and also covering past years question.

All the Best

for dt you can use VINOD gupta

Thx for all valuable suggestions.

Pls make the choice narrow for me on the foll grnds:  Direct taxes:

Imp reqt: Clearing the exam

Very Brief Chapter, Q & A,  ready reference at the time of exam,  Past questions chapter wise,  simple language for clearing the concept.

Which one is best for above purpose?

G. Sekar

Manoharan

Bangar

go 4 g.shekhar....dinesh madan is sufficient....give a ready of practise manual if possible

I dont think that G Sekar is the good option.. it is given in questions and answer format.. answers are given with lots of irrelevant points. not a good book.

You need to know the subject as a whole that is much required for CA final exam ..

For ISCA dinesh madan is good. If you want simplified book  you may also try Manish Valechha ISCA book this book gives you memory codes you can remember lengthy topics very easily. Great book for ISCA. check this once.

Hi Monika

most of my friends suggested books for Direct tax  is Bangar and for ISCA is dinesh madhan.

These books are easy to understand the concept .

These books are helpful for Exams

I use T.N.Manoharan. Have evaluated below the book on the basis of each of ur requirements(sorry, cant provide similar analysis on the other two buks as I havent read them).

1.Very Brief Chapter-No, Manoharan is not very brief but it  is not very lengthy also.

2.Q & A- No, Manoharan isnt in Q & A format.

3.Ready reference at the time of exam-At the end of this book, there is a particular section called Summary of Key  Points for Revision. Here all the important matters are briefly given chapter-wise, which is really useful for revision(especially in  the days b4 the exams).

4.Past questions chapter wise- At the end of every chapter, previous year questions related to that particular chapter are given.

5.Simple language for clearing the concept-The language is very simple & clear in Manoharan. It is an ideal book for clearing concepts. It contains adequate number of illustrations which helps in understanding the various provisions.

To conclude, Manoharan meets all your requirements except the first two. But let me tell you, no reference book is going to be very brief. Even if u find one which is brief, it will not  help u to clear the exam. U need to have a reasonable understanding of the various tax provisions & for that u will have to refer some standard reference book which explains everything at sufficient length. And Manoharan' s buk does this really well. It describes provisions at sufficient length, nothing less  nothing more. U still have got almost 4 months & it is is enough to prepare from Manoharan.
