AS PER MY OPIONION "DIRECT TAXES LAW AND PRACTICES" BY DR VINOD K SINGHANIA IS ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS FOR DIRECT TAXES FOR FINAL EXAM.

Vinod Singhania is the best book and for quick revision Direct Taxes by Shekar is good.

Take any book dear. All the books are good, if you have good command over the text, as Income Tax Act contains the sections. Do more and more practical questions and learn the sections. If you will keep on taking advices, it will just confuse you. So buy any book, either Girish Ahuja or Manoharan or Singhania. All are renowned authors. If you are going for first time to read the tax then go for any book. If you have read tax earlier also in Bcom or somewhere else, then I will suggest you to go for the book by same author whom you already have read

vinod gupta is a very nice book,but for revision purpose i think t.n.manoharan is best bcoz exam pattern sums r given in dat book

 i think vinod gupta sir's modules r good but  u need to prepare short notes for easy revision n also u need to mark good questions for revision .one more thing to assess ur knowledge dont forget to finish each chapter thru compiler of dt it is really helpful .all the best hop my advice wud b of som use.....
