09 January 2012

For CA students, within a week or a couple results will be declared. Let me wish all the examinees a grand success.

Now, the second major event of this calender year 2012 is May term examinations. Hope everybody has started well ahead of time.

CCI has got a lot of posts in forum segment enquiring about the books to be followed, study methods, attempt single or both groups etc etc. I would like to share some tips that I received from my teachers, mentors, seniors, friends and the institute itself.

The Course

As everybody knows it is one of the toughest professional courses not only in India but globally. It is very respected profession and rewards handfully. So it attracts a mass. Here the point is skill and knowledge level expected is very very high and only those who raise up to it only succeed. So the mark is high.

The Way

Only those who reach that mark will get the charter. So it is demanding and require a different level in terms of mindset, time, effort and persistence compared to other courses. So prepare accordingly. Change any conventional setups if found not matching wtih.

The Tools

The institute has designed the course and desinged the study inputs accordingly. Candidates are expected to read, comprehend, retain and reproduce the body of knowledge. A professional is expected to handle various situations practically and the testing is also on the same line. Analytical and practical application skills are tested.

The Choice

There is a target and the candidates have choice in determining the way and tools. But in aggregate the score should be in par with the standard. Here he/she has an advantage of working according to their abilities and interests. Analyse your strengths and weaknesses rationally and decide. May take help of others who can.

These are the four pillars on the CA journey. Each should get weightage and respect. When a situation arises to decide on a particular thing regarding studies one should make calcualtions based on the scripttures in each pillars. These are logical pillars and not an emotionally biased one. So those decisions will lead you through the goal.

Summary

1. Realise course is not an ordinary one and is tough.

2. Demands a lot of painful efforts, time and sacrifices.

3. Do what is required than what we like to do.

4. Make judicial and wise use of options available.

All the very best.
