Break in articleship

can anyone tell consequences of break in articleship , if the break is more tha a year and also its impact on exam . suppose if I pass whether my results will be withheld if I am not registered as an article on the 1st day of examination . Furtherance of above I have completed my 3 years of articleship and have excess leave of 5 months
