Hi alok,

If u consider ma opinion u should study DT n IDT as follows:

IDT:

1. Purchase bangar's book.

2. Try to prepare ur own notes especially for Excise n Service tax. These notes will be useful to u at da time of exam

3. Also read RTP issued by ICAI n case law. Remember these books r must read.

Remember IDT is vast subject but if manage properly u can score really good.

DT :

1. Use T.N. Manoharan. Lot of people are advising Vinod Gupta now a days.. I studied only T.N. Manoharan. Its a nice book. If u wish u can go through both books and take ur own decision

2. There is no need to prepare ur own notes for DT also it is not possible. DT is like Ocean but easy as compared to IDT. If u have done ur artcleship from tax firm it will also help u.

3. Again no need to go throgh practice manual. It will be waste of time.

4. Lot of portion consists of IPCC syllabus.  I used to study those part after "one" heavy part is completed. So read one final chapter n read pcc chapter. U will find it interesting.

5. Obviously u need to read RTP n case law book.

Both subjects are really interesting subjects... U will really enjoy those.

Whats more??? Dont worry that u havent yet started, even i started studies in January n was able to score exemption in both subjects.

For any further queries email me at dmastakarca @ gmail.com

Wish u a very good look for ur exam.

Regards,
