Mr. Tarun is partially right.
IT books serve for 2 attempts. i.e May & Nov.
So 1 book in 1 year is rqd

Its always required to purchase new book for every attempt
as there would be many amendments in the act
so its better
or else u can even go through the recent amendments in income tax act instead of
purchasing a new one

I suggest new book for every attempt because when the Act is amended, it may happen that in first edition after amendment, the author may not properly interpret it or give proper examples. But by the time second edition comes for next attempt, most of the provisions becomes clear. SO its better to always have a new book for every attempt in case of Income Tax.
