Big 4 vs Local Firms

Why are global firms taking up all the business and small firms fighting over small clients. Why cant we join hands and create a behemoth like these big accounting firms? What are the challenges faced by small time CA in making partnerships and growing their network.

you can. No one is stopping you.  By the way Big - 4 firms in India are in equally bad shape due to excessive cost reduction to rope in new clients.
