Better sleep linked to improved Maths scores

Washington: Students wanting to score more marks in Maths should sleep well, says a study in a US university.

The University of Pittsburgh study concluded that higher scores in Maths were linked to greater sleep quality, less disturbed sleep and increased sleep efficiency.

Increased sleep-onset latency over the weekend was associated with worse academic performance.

According to Jennifer Cousins from the university, "sleep deficits cause problems for adolescents, but students differ in their personal resources and in how chaotic their sleep-wake schedules are.

"The more regular and predictable their sleep is, the better they are likely to do when confronted with short-term sleep deficits." IANS
