Hi,
Being someone who has done this before, I would suggest that this is definitely a good profile in the long run. A lot of management and strategic decisions are made based on our analysis and we will be the key runners in ensuring that the organization is moving in the right direction. The role has a lot of scope mostly in big organisations and will ensure regular interaction with Top management early in the career. There are a lot of management graduates who are generally in this role. Key skills include- \
a ) Technical skills (like ms excel, ms access) to build reports, models and what if analysis
b) Number crunching and Analysis skills to predict and come up with logical deductions/ scenarios
c) Communication skills as you will have to interact with a lot of people in this role.
Hope this helps. If the above interests you and you think you have the aptitude. I think you should take it. Usually, analysts are paid much more than accountants too.
Thanks
Karthik
