You have a drum of water and a 3 ltrs jar and a 5 ltrs jar.
The jars have no markings on the sides.
How would you be able to take out exactly one ltr of water?

I am not an expert in mathematics let me try ur puzzle
you pour 4 ltr of water in a 5 ltr jar and by using that 3 ltr jar we can take exactly one litre of water this is how my idea worked you give answer later let others also participate and give their views on the same

NICE QUESTION
I WOULD LIKE TO ANSWER THIS
just fill up 5 ltrs jar,
then use the same to fill up 3 ltrs jar
now, we have 3 ltrs of water in 3 ltrs jar and 2ltrs left in 5 ltrs jar
now just empty 3 ltrs jar and divide 2 ltrs of water of 5 ltrs jar equal in 3 ltrs jar & 5ltrs jar
u would get 1 liter water in 3ltrs jar & 1 liter water in 5 ltrs jar
in short , i mean
5-3=2 litre water
2/2=1 litre water

fill up 3 ltrs jar , empty it in 5 ltrs jar
again fill up 3 ltrs jar, empty it again on 5 ltrs jar
u will find 1 litre of water left in 3 ltrs jar
in short
3*2=6
6-5=1

By looking at the height of jars one can find out whether it is 3 ltr or 5 ltr this is how i thought any way uma seems to have given correct answer in the second post
