Hi Swati,
I know that Institue material seems to be somehow voluminous but once when we start reading from it, slowly and slowly it becomes easy to grab from it.
yes, for some topics you can use some other reference books by authors like:
CA Surbhi Bansal- Best book according to me ,or,
CA Kamal Garg

You can refer V K Agarwal. Even Pankaj Garg I have heard is good though I have not seen it personally,
