Can someone please tell me how are Fixed income bearing securities(debentures, bonds, etc) and Variable income bearing securities (equity shares, preference shares)valued.

If they are held as current investment then it will be valued at cost or fair value
if they are held for long term then it should be valued at cost.
Investment is not valued on fixed income or variable income basis.
