As per me you should join a big firm. Because the knowledge a big firm can give, no other firm firm will provide you.
And also you get practical experience in handling big clients.

In bigger firm you will have higher level work experience and professionalism where as in Mid-Sized firm you have a chance to observe basic management fundas which will be useful in starting up your own practice in future. So take a decision as per your liking. Both have their own benefits and problems. However I personally recommend mid-sized firm.

Hey! I am currently working for one of the big 4s so my views can be biased. However, my suggestion is that you should work with a large firm because they are very process driven! You will get invaulable exposure and learn the corporate culture.
Friendly advice- you should get started with your articleship soon now if you are belong to the May 2011 batch!

hey, i had completed my almost three yrs of articleship in a mid-sized firm and its good experience to be a article than a dummy, u may join the mid sized firm bcoz in articleship we need time for tuitions and self study which u lack in a big size firm.

i) Heavy work with well knowledge.
ii) No more leaves exept ICAI limit
i) Good level of work with sufficient knowledge
ii) You can take leaves more than ICAI limit for Final preparation( Based on firm)
i) Minimum work with minimum knowledge
ii) you can get more leaves.
one thing is important yaar practical knowledge is important AS WELL AS STUDY.
Choose your option and tell me also how it is use ful to u.

opt for a medium sized firm, say no to a small firm and if u want exposure and can afford to postpone your exam by a term then give a shot to a big firm.

I remember one of the ICAI president 4-5 years back gave an interview in hich he stated that ICAI members are equal in all respect once certified....carrying this statement literally a CA certified with Articleship in Big 4 will possess the same exposure and practical knowledge equal to a CA certified and trained at a local practitioner in a small town, amazing fallacy specially when MRAs executed by ICAI with foriegn institutes do not provide their members with mandatory Articleship(replaced long back by mentored training)ICAEW and CPAA.

go fr a small firm fr mre leaves, minimum knowledge n more time fr ca final classes(more relaxed)
go fr a medium 1 fr good knowledge,n sufficient adjustment fr coaching
go fr big 4 ..coz d exposure n environment there is all 2gthr dfrnt but u ll have to work a lot ,very dfclt to manage coaching classes with just 150 days leave in 3 years..ll have to travel a lot n go fr outstations as well.
its ur take..go fr wat u r comfortable with, wat ur priority is (work or studies or bth)
bt definately go fr mid sized if u r plannin to start ur own business in future.
