I received "Arrear Demand" notice from CPC, Bangalore.
It says in the statement that in the AY 2008-09, the amount to be paid is Rs. 8,381.
Actually, in that particular year, i worked for a company and I am not sure if I submitted the original Form 16 while filing returns, or if the Form 16 was not issued by the company.
I have the ITR with me now.
Please advise.

You could be right. You might not have to pay the demand.
You can try checking 26AS form from incometaxefiling website, to find out whether your TDS has been recorded correctly.
You might have to personally meet your Assessing officer along with the letter and form 16, to seek more clarification.

Hi Mihir,
Thanks for your reply. I checked in 26AS form, but there is no such amount reflected.
I'm trying to collect photocopy of the Form 16.

What if I submitted Form 16 original to the Dept and dont have a photocopy to produce for proof that I filed my returns?

Also, for the AY 2008-09, we had to submit originals of Form 16, as I've got the ITR form with ack receipt.

You can submit form 16 and 26AS along with a written letter to the AO.

I can write the letter to the AO with the 26AS, but I dont have Form 16.
