Quick Summary
This discussion addresses whether an auditor who obtained their Certificate of Practice (COP) on 31st August 2020 is eligible to perform the company audit for the financial year 2020-21. The general consensus is that the auditor must hold a valid COP on the date their appointment is approved at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) or Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM).

Statutory audits must be completed by qualified Chartered Accountants who are independent of the Business. Further, the report prepared by the Auditor on his/her findings must be presented in the format prescribed by the Regulator. Statutory Audits can be mainly classified into two types, company audits and tax audits.

Normally no.

Criterion is that  he should have COP on the date of meeting (AGM/EGM) in which his appointment as statutory auditor is approved.
