Can anyoneconfirm that to appointment a director under section 257 is it necessary that he should be additional director of the Company OR Can a person be appointment as Director directly by virtue of section 257 instead of appting him as additional director....
Definitely a person can be appointed as a director u/s 257 directly without his app. as Additional Dir.
As app. u/s 257 requires calling of General Meeting, that's why most companies prefer to appoint a person as Additional Director in Board Meeting and then confirm his appointment in General Meeting u/s 257 (preferably AGM to avoid calling of GM specially for this purpose)

IF A ADDITIONAL DIRECTOR APOOINTMENT REGULARISED UNDER SEC 257 IN AGM, IS FORM 32 FILLING IS COMPULSORY FOR THAT DIRECTOR
Yes, then only his name as Director will be shown on MCA portal otherwise his name as Additional Director will be shown on Signatory Details.
