Only in case of services

yes , no need to pay gst on advance for supply of good (noti. 66),
Avance on supply of service gst is applicable

if advance is for service which in respect of which tax is to be paid under rcm, then recipient is liable to pay gst on such advances

But gst liability arises na in the hands of recipient in case of service.... He might ask for gst also then
