arre dont worry. model answer papers have lots of errors. dont follow it so blindly.
instead of using ICAI compilations of papers, use reliance compilations. they are error free relatively thats what i have heard

My dear friends, the right answer is 35,000. Since the question does not mention opening balance of debtors, we can not assume any xyz amount to get answer. as the total sales is Rs. 70,000 and cash sales is Rs. 10,000, it means credit sales is Rs. 60,000. now, out of this 60,000, Rs. 25,000 is outstanding at the year end, it means that Rs. 35,000 must have been received.

Answer is Rs. 35000/-
see how
Total Sale = Cash Sale + Credit sale
we know, Total Sale = Rs. 70000.00
Cash Sale = Rs. 10000.00
therefore, Credit Sale = 70000 - 10000
= Rs. 60000.00
that means Total Debtor = Rs. 60000.00
and Debtor at end = Rs. 25000.00
thus, Cash received = Total Debtor - Debtor at year end
= 60000 - 25000
= Rs. 35000.00

Total sales During the year amounted to70,000 ; cash sales10,000; Outstanding debtors at the end of the years25,000 . Cash Recived from debtors during the year will be ?
ANS: TOTAL SALES DURING THE YEAR =70,000.00
LESS, CASH SALES = 10,000.00
-------------------------
TOTAL CREDIT SALES 60,000.00 (1)

OUT STANDING DEBTORES = 25,000.00
THE CASH RECEIPT DUR. THE YEAR = 35,000.00

It's really difficult for student who prepare for CPT without any coaching or guideline...the only guideline is study material...and if it comes with wrong answer....student have to suffer until they get someone with same problems.....!!!
